Mammoottil Family

"MAMMOOTTIL KUDUMBAM" Is the Ancient Christian Tharavadu (Family) of Central Travancore. This family emerged as offshoot of the Royal family headed by "CHERAMAN PERUMAL" - The ancient ruler of Kerala.

“PERUMAL” the son of Cheraman Perumal embraced Christianity.  Subsequently he had to leave Kodungaloore. He traveled south and reached Kaipatoor. He liked the place very much and decided to settle down. He enjoyed the support and patronage of the then Royal Family of Kaipatoor “ELANJIMANTHRA KOIKKAL”. He was titled “MAMMOOTTIL MAPPILAI”. The gracious mother of Elanjimanthra koikkal treated Perumal as her own son.

The descendants of this Great Legendary Towering Personality “MAMMOOTTIL PERUMAL MAPPILA” spread all over the world. At  present  Mammoottil Kudumbam has four main branches at Kaipattoor- Mangalathu, Valliaveettil, Kadavil and Pallickal.
